Miscellany

Hello.  It's the lady of the house here this time, and I've got a few random things to show you.

1.  Sometimes when you put your 'house renovation' shoes on (i.e. your best friend's hand me down, a little bit too large hiking boots), you find a snail in there.

And it left some snail goo.

Don't worry, the snail was rehomed under the bushes (but possibly later eaten by chickens).

2.  We've had some 'helpers' at the house lately.  Bubba of course, and in the crate there...

is Peanut.

If we let her off leash she likes to head straight through the front yard (and likely to the street, but we can walk after her while she thinks she's booking it and grab her by the leopard cape).  She's an old lady, so leopard is acceptable.

3.  Now I do spend a lot of time on the weekends actually helping with the house renovation, but sometimes there really is nothing for me to do.  If it's just for 15 minutes or so I'll take the dogs for a short walk.  Peanut can't walk that far so really one of the dogs goes for a walk, and one of the dogs goes for a carry.

Sometimes we just hang out in the sun awaiting the next directive.

We're also good for miscellaneous errands, like a Home Depot run or dropping off rubble and picking up gravel (at which point some dude had to help me get the tailgate on the dump truck down - embarrassing!).

Or picking up lunch.  Last time Bubba had his eyes trained on the door at Burgermaster waiting, waiting, waiting for his french fries to appear.

And they did.

Peanut is a mystical creature who just happenst to share her life with me.

(She's a 13 year old chihuahua with too many ailments to count. But she's keeps chugging along with a smile and a wagging tail.)

She's pretty awesome.

Did you ever post where you rented the 140# pile driver hammer or where to buy the pin pile materials?

I rented the pile driver from Paco, which is located south of Seattle in Georgetown. They are an industrial tool rental company.

I purchased the pin pile materials from McDowell Pile King. You can buy either black pipe (plain steel) from either your local steel supplier (such as Everett Steel in Seattle) or you can buy galvanized pipe, which will last longer, and only McDowell carried the galvanized pipe.

Are you needing to install pin piles?

Yes, I'm about to embark on pin piles in a living room - need about 14 of them somewhere between 6' and 10' long is our best guess. After a long night of online research, I left a message for Pile King because their website said they would sell materials to DIY people. I have not received call back so can't wait to hear how much!

Thanks for pointing me toward Paco as well.

Check with Everett Steel too. At least they'll get you an immediate quote so you know how much you are looking at.

And honestly, going with black pipe is fine. In retrospect, I wish I'd have gone with black pipe, it would've been easier and Everett Steel delivers! :)
